A ribbon cutting ceremony took place dedicating the "new" business name of Mt. Hope Horse Rescue, Inc. and the acceptance of their 501(c) non-profit status by the IRS making all donations tax-deductible contributions. This is a major step for the horse rescue in obtaining more donations and sponsorship. In attendance were - Terry Shelly, Director of Manheim Chamber of Commerce, Neil Rhen, Board Member of Manheim Chamber of Commerce, Pat Potter, Director of Mt. Hope Horse Rescue, Inc. and Lauren Mayersky, Trainer at Mt. Hope Horse Rescue, Inc.

Tuesday, June 16 - Manheim Chamber of Commerce After5 Mixer

This monthly event held by the Manheim Chamber of Commerce was the first to be held at the Mt. Hope Horse Rescue hosted by Pat & George Potter. Approximately 20 members of the local chapter of the Chamber were in attendance - one of the largest groups in attendance at such a function. A short history of the horse rescue was given by Nancy Zigment, Administrator, along with the acquisition and adoption processes of the horses. A tour of the facilities and an introduction to the horses was offered after the meeting, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance!

Welcome Our Two New Horses

We just acquired two wonderful horses at a local auction on May 11th. They were saved from what would have been an untimely death as they were headed for the "meat pen!" The two geldings names are - Bugsy and Keystone. Bugsy is a 7-year old, 17H thoroughbred. Keystone is a 6-year old, 16.2H Quarter Horse. Keystone is being sponsored by Keystone Equine in Mount Joy until he is adopted. What fortunate horses these two handsome gentlemen are!

Spring Fundraiser

We are selling delicious chocolate candy bars for $1 each to raise funds to help pay for much needed stall mats. Stall mats help to reduce pressure in the horses hooves and legs and also help to reduce the amount of bedding that is needed in each stall, which is a cost-savings. Please help us to help these well-deserving horses!

Our candy bar sales contest is over as of June 15 (results to follow) ... but due to popularity of these delicious candy bars, sales will continue until the end of the year. For more information, please e-mail us at mhhr@ptd.net

Where's The Beef

We are selling beef jerky for $1 each in regular and pepperoni flavors. We need to raise funds to help pay for vet/medical bills for the horses. The medical care and farrier bills for both of our new horses is $505! We have the beef jerky available for sale at our stables and our event booths at local horse shows.
